We don't think every shop should pick Bellhop. Some are better served by Jill's Office. Some have already moved to AnswerForce and shouldn't switch. This page is a fair read on both — what they get right, where we fit differently, and the math at the volumes you're actually doing.
Jill's is the strongest live-answering option for trades. Real US humans, real trade training, real integrations with the dispatch systems most shops run on. The pitch is honest. They're also the most expensive option per minute, and their pricing scales with how busy your phone is.
When the caller is panicking about a flooded basement, a Utah-based receptionist with empathy is something we don't try to fake.
Different shape of value. Same goal — your phone gets answered and your calendar gets booked, intelligently, without you doing it.
· Estimates as of May 2026. Jill's uses a tiered per-minute schedule; figures shown apply a $1.50/min midpoint to their Complete plan — see their published pricing. · AnswerForce pricing is gated; figures from third-party reviews — get a real quote. · Bellhop: $99/mo flat. 30-day free trial, no card. · Pricing changes — verify all numbers directly before signing anything.
AnswerForce is twenty years deep, runs at scale, and has a wider integration menu than Jill's or us. They also won't quote you a price without a sales call, and per third-party reviews their plans typically carry a multi-month commitment — verify directly with their sales team. Two different shapes of buying experience.
Twenty-plus years operating, 2,500+ SMB customers, and a deeper integration menu than anyone else in this comparison.
If you've been burned by gated pricing and 90-day lock-ins before, the buying experience itself might be enough of a reason.
Every option you're likely weighing. The two we lead this page with, plus the AI alternatives (Smith.ai, Goodcall) and the premium live-human comp (Ruby) for completeness.
As of May 2026. Competitor pricing and features change. Verify every cell directly with the vendor before signing — we update this page when we notice drift, but we can't guarantee real-time accuracy.

Four shapes of shop we'd rather lose to a competitor than promise something we can't deliver yet. If any of these is you, the better fit is named.
We write appointments to Google Calendar. If your dispatch board lives in an FSM and you don't want two systems disagreeing, Jill's Office or AnswerForce write directly into those systems. We're working on native ServiceTitan / HCP / Jobber sync — not today.
Bellhop understands a Spanish-speaking caller without crashing — it captures what they need and routes them to your dispatcher — but the AI replies in English today. AnswerForce and Ruby both include bilingual Spanish at no extra cost; if a meaningful share of your callers expect a Spanish-speaking voice on the other end, pick one of them today. A Spanish-voice option is on our roadmap.
A homeowner calling about a $15K furnace replacement at 8pm on Sunday gets a warmer first impression from a Portland-based Ruby receptionist than from any AI. We don't dispute it. For high-ticket consultative trades work, Ruby Receptionists earn their price.
Bellhop is built for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, and adjacent home-service trades. The dispatch logic, the trade vocabulary, the emergency handling — it's tuned for trucks-and-techs work. We'll get to other verticals; today, if you're outside trades, you'll get more from a vertical specialist.
The comparison only goes so far on paper. Call the demo number — it picks up, it offers real times, and you can hang up whenever. 30 seconds.
